Aussiedoodles and Labradoodles are similar in that they’re both crosses between two popular dog breeds. However, they’re different too. For instance, the Aussiedoodle is a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, which explains its name.
The Labradoodle breed starts in Australia and is a mixture of Labrador retriever and poodle.
Appearance- Labradoodle vs Aussiedoodle
Labradoodles are dog breeds with a single coat. They have straight to curly fur that falls into three specific categories: Fleece, Wool and Hair.
Coats of this breed should not be too thick, and their curls cannot be too tight. In general, they can come in a variety of colors, including apricot, caramel, chalk gold, black red or café (brown). The coat can also be particolor.

On the other hand, Aussiedoodles come in many textures- some have coarser hair, while others are curly. Their coats may be black and red tri, phantom, parti or red merle. Some have black and tan solids.

Size
The size of the AussieDoodle or Labradoodle will vary depending on their Poodle parent. They come in 3 sizes: Standard, Medium, and Miniature.
Standard Labradoldles can be between 21 to 24 inches in height for females and 22-24 inches for males. Between 50-65 pounds for weight.
Aussiedoodle on the other hand, is smaller at about 10 to 15 inches tall (25.4-38.1 cm). This dog ranges from approximately 25 to 70 pounds (11.3-31.7 kg) in weight.
Life Span
Being crosses of two breeds, and having healthier genes, the Aussiedoodle and Labradoodle are capable of being a lifelong companion to the right owners.
The Aussiedoodle typically lives 10 – 13 years and the Labradoodle lives 12-14
Temperament
Labradoodles are gentle, friendly dogs who love to jump & play. They show their happiness with joyous vocalizations and by trying to get as close as possible to you.
They are usually docile, and they have the potential to make friends with a lot of people. They are just like Labrador Retrievers!
This, combined with the intelligence they inherit from their poodle parents gives them an extraordinary instinct to know what family needs from them – making them excellent service dogs.
Meanwhile, Aussiedoodle are affectionate but less pet-friendly dogs that came about from a mix of Australian Shepherds and poodle.
They tend to round you and your kids, so make sure that they are trained early in order to socialize well with people. They can also stick to one or two humans as their favorites, but that doesn’t mean they will not get along well with others of your family members.

Shedding
Both dogs don’t tend to shed much despite their Poodle parents, which is a huge plus.
Labradoodles have a tendency to not be too messy and not to shed excessively. The exception is those with the Hair coat type, who are on the lower end of average shedders.
Meanwhile, The Aussiedoodle is also considered a low or no shedders. What little hair they shed usually isn’t clumped or tangled.
Intelligence
Aussiedoodles are known as one of the smartest mixes. They’re highly trainable, making them ideal companions.
However, the Labradoodle is also quite smart due to its parent breeds. Poodles rank first for intelligence, and Retrievers are third on the list.

Trainability
Both of these breeds are extremely clever and can be trained efficiently with consistency and some positive reinforcement. The more you practice, the better they will get at obeying your commands.
Labradoodle is a responsive and eager-to-please dog and will respond well to their owner during training sessions. They are easily handled for novice dog owners – all you have to do is train them well. Dog owners don’t necessarily need to use a firm hand, but they should try training their pup early on so that they can be successful in all aspects of life, not just on basic obedience.

Exercise Needs
Labradoodles require about 30 to 60 minute daily exercise. In addition, they need plenty of space where they can run free. These dogs from the first generation need even more exercise
Meanwhile, Aussiedoodles require also 30 to 60 minute exercise with play sessions & short walks. Daily physical exercises are important for them because they can become overweight.
Grooming
For both Aussiedoodle and Labradoodle, grooming depends on the type of coat they have. Generally, once or twice a week is a good time frame.
Some owners choose to have their pet’s coat trimmed or clipped every 6-8 weeks, which makes it easy to maintain. They don’t often develop an odor, so baths should be done only when necessary.
Regularly check their ears to make sure they’re healthy. Brush their teeth twice or thrice a week to remove buildup of bacteria. Trim their nails once or twice a month if you’re unsure how to do it.
Family Compatibilty
Aussiedoodles are perfect for families with older children. They are very playful, good with other animals in the house, and can handle a lot of different environments. Early socialization is key to their well-being
They are not recommended for families with toddlers and small animals and, since they may try to herd them if they haven’t been trained.
Meanwhile, The Labradoodle is very energetic and affectionate. They’re great for families of any types as they love being around people – as you’d expect from a dog! However, due to their size, it’s important to supervise what children. It’s also important to make sure they get along with any other pets in the house because they may knock them over by accident.

Health Issues
Although cross breeds like Aussiedoodles and Labradoodles are considered to be healthier than traditional pure breeds, it’s still possible for them to inherit some of their parent’s health problems.
Aussiedoodles are a one in a million dog breed. They grow up to be very loving and loyal with the right training. They can suffer from Hip Dysplasia, Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Ivermectin sensitivity which is an adverse reaction to tick and flea medications, Cataracts, Cushing’s Disease, and Cran
Meanwhile, Labradoodles are very prone to life-threatening & common health disabilities including ear infections, Hips and Elbows Dysplasia, Epilepsy, Allergies, Diabetes Mellitus, Progressive Retinal Atrophy and Hypothyroidism.
