Chiweenie History

Chiweenies have likely existed naturally for years, but designer breeders started mixing Chihuahuas and Dachshunds in the late 1990s, likely in North America.

Breeder’s mixed the two parent breeds (Dachshunds and Chihuahuas) in order to give small pups with short bodies to reduce their tendency for back issues. Demand for these mixed breed pups increased and Chiweenies were born
